Stacey Matrix and 5 Whys - Tackle the Real Problem
We often see a problem and start tackling it without thinking about the nature of it. Is it complicated? Or complex? Or is it simple? It is important to create a common understanding right at the beginning so that the methods being used to solve the problem really help and not decelerate the chosen process. The Stacey Matrix and the 5 Why questions are great and easy to use tools to pick the right methods at the beginning
I am a methodologist with a strong connection to agile practices. I like to focus on value and not on planning. The mindset of the people involved is more important to me than following processes.

Improvement at the Speed of Pandemic
The COVID19 pandemic brought unprecedented change….at unprecedented speed. Faced with adversity, organizations were forced to rapidly change and to quickly adapt their processes and procedures. But that agility is not the norm.As continuous improvers, we typically complain about our company’s sloth-like pace in implementing change. But over the past 18 months, we’re now in awe at our company’s capabilities. So, how do we continue to improve at “pandemic speed” after the pandemic is over? Can we sustain that momentum? Can we continue to implement rapid change without burning out our employees? How do we leverage that pandemic agility and incorporate it into the “way we do business”? In this session, CII’s Founder, Allison Greco, will share best practices on how to “improve at pandemic speed” and get your company to return to a better way.
Allison Greco is the founder of Continuous Improvement International (CII) and the DAM Good Membership. Allison created her foundation with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Master of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. Over the past decade, she has held Continuous and Process Improvement roles for Black Hills Energy, Williams, the United States Air Force and BNSF Railway. Allison has started up new CI programs and reinvigorated stale ones. She’s led company-wide, multi-state organizational realignments but gets the greatest fulfillment working on the stuff that helps people leave work earlier to spend more time with their families. Allison has led more projects than she can count, coached dozens of professionals and saved companies an amount of money that would make even Warren Buffet proud. Along the way she earned a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and became a licensed Professional Engineer

Agile & Lean: A Harmony of Mindsets
Over the past 20 years, we have witnessed an explosion of frameworks in the lean and agile space. This proliferation has led to a lot of confusion. This session will attempt to untangle matters a bit by examining the history of lean and agile ways of thinking, organization and practice. We shall consider the past, take stock of the present and imagine a bit about the future.
